Use Procedure

1. Prepare

Do not eat or drink for at least 15 minutes before the test.
Do not use oral care products for at least 30 minutes before the test.
Prepare a timer for tracking the time.

2. Collect Sample

Remove the test device and tube.
Swipe the flat pad along the upper gum once and the lower gum once.
Place the flat pad into the tube with the developer solution.

3. Wait

Leave the test device in the tube for 20 minutes.
Do not read the result after more than 40 minutes.

4. Read the Result

Positive result: Two complete lines, even if faint, indicate that you may be HIV positive and should seek medical advice.
Negative result: One line next to “C” and no line next to “T” indicate that you are HIV negative.
Invalid result: If there is no line next to “C” or the test line is incomplete, the test is invalid and should be repeated.

Principle of the Test

The test is based on the detection of antibodies to HIV in oral fluid. The test strip contains synthetic peptides representing regions of the HIV envelope and a control from goat anti-human IgG immobilized on a nitrocellulose membrane.
